With personnel cooperation, we are playing our part in shaping a better, sustainable future for the world. Here, AGIAMONDO focuses on the power of personal interaction and relationships and on the dynamism of joint learning.

We must all continuing developing if we wish to have a peaceful and just future together. Development workers from the Global South can help us to do so, drawing on their own personal perspective.

The coronavirus pandemic is the worst global healthcare crisis in decades. More than ever before, it calls for people who can provide expert support to local partners in host countries.

Acting together

For more than 60 years, AGIAMONDO has been recruiting motivated people to work at church and civil society organisations worldwide. As well as this, we advise organisations on all questions regarding personnel cooperation and offer a comprehensive service to executing agencies that offer voluntary services. We train development workers for international cooperation work and assist them before and during their assignment and when they return to their home country. We also design the programme for the Civil Peace Service.

Our work during the coronavirus crisis

The Corona pandemic is the biggest global health crisis in decades. It clearly shows that we as an international community share a common destiny. The virus does not know national borders; we can only defeat it in a joint effort. Thus, in the field of international cooperation we must continue to work together closely and focus on solidarity to prevent and overcome such health crises, to fight global injustices and to resolve conflicts without violence.

As a consequence, we are convinced that personal development cooperation and especially peace work are becoming increasingly important. Now more than ever, skilled peace and development workers are needed to support our partners on the ground in their commitment to social development, peace and environmental change.

Almost all of our peace and development workers are currently working on site in the partner countries. Observing hygiene rules, they are predominantly working in the offices of their partner organisations. International travel is partly restricted and quarantine regulations must be observed when entering certain countries. Responsibly and together with our partners, we check in each individual case whether it is possible to travel to the partner country.

What development cooperation has to offer

Every day, more than 280 development workers are deployed in host countries around the world with a contract from AGIAMONDO, based on the German Development Aid Workers Act (EhfG). What do development workers earn? How are they insured for social security? How long does the working relationship last?
