Your new role – responsible and challenging

As coordinator, you will design and manage the CPS (Civil Peace Service) country programme in Sierra Leone in consultation with the head office in Cologne. Through programme development, you will contribute to quality assurance and impact orientation of the country programme, act as a contact person for partner organisations and experts, and represent AGIAMONDO on site.

The coordination includes the following specific tasks:

  • You will continuously develop AGIAMONDO's country strategy and CPS country programme in dialogue with local churches and partner organisations.
  • You will plan new partnerships, clarify staffing requirements and prepare project applications and reports for the BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).
  • You will be responsible for the annual financial planning of the country programme and manage the use of funds.
  • You actively network the partner organisations involved in the programme and promote cooperation and exchange with other relevant national and international organisations and actors.
  • You support the CPS experts and partner organisations in their life and work on site.
  • You will work in a network with the coordinators of other CPS agencies on the joint orientation of the CPS in Sierra Leone and contribute AGIAMONDO's own profile to the CPS.

  • You have several years of professional experience in development or peace cooperation in the Global South, preferably acquired in church or civil society organisations.
  • You have consulting skills and in-depth knowledge of programme and project management, including budget responsibility.
  • You have knowledge and experience in the areas of peace and reconciliation work.
  • You have diplomatic skills, highly differentiated intercultural communication skills for working with stakeholders in a spirit of partnership, and can act appropriately in a church environment.
  • You identify with AGIAMONDO's church profile and are committed to the goals and concerns of church development cooperation.
  • You have a very good command of English and speak German very well.
  • You are an EU citizen or Swiss citizen and belong to a Christian church.

Your cooperation with AGIAMONDO and Caritas Freetown

Responsible and challenging

AGIAMONDO e. V. is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service, we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It is committed to a world in which conflicts are resolved without violence.

Sierra Leone is still heavily affected by the consequences of colonial tensions and civil war (1991–2002). Poverty, unemployment, weak state structures and the effects of Ebola, natural disasters and the coronavirus pandemic are placing a heavy burden on the population. Rising living costs and unequal access to resources are exacerbating social tensions – peace remains fragile.

In the CPS, AGIAMONDO works with partner organisations that campaign for the rights and participation of disadvantaged groups – especially children, young people and women, as well as communities that could be disadvantaged by agricultural or mining investments. The partners provide legal and psychosocial support to survivors of violence, promote dialogue processes in rural regions and empower young people to take active responsibility in their communities as ‘agents of change and peace’. Through media and advocacy work, they also contribute to a social climate that reduces violence and strengthens participation.

Your place of residence and work, Freetown, is suitable for families with children of primary school age and above, as it offers qualified multilingual educational institutions and reasonable infrastructure.

What AGIAMONDO offers

  • Individual and comprehensive preparation
  • Three-year contract (with option to renew), social security and remuneration in accordance with the Development Aid Workers Act, as well as an allowance for particularly noteworthy work
  • Further training in regional studies, languages or other specialist areas, as well as coaching and supervision services and individual counselling

We look forward to receiving your detailed application by 22 March 2026 at the latest.
