Exposure and Dialogue Programmes

Who we are

The Exposure and Dialogue Programmes (EDP) enable responsible persons from politics, private businesses, public administration, religious and civil society organisations to meet and engage in personal dialogue with people actively taking steps out of poverty and exclusion or working for non-violent conflict resolution in their societies. EDP strengthens sustainable and responsible action in the countries of the Global South and in Europe.

The history of EDP began in 1985 in the context of the German Commission for Justice and Peace. From the outset, EDP was closely linked to the FederalMinistry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in terms of personnel and concept. EDP contributed to development policy guidelines, such as the self-help orientation in development projects, the role of women in development processes, and the expansion of microfinance services.

The EDP Association ("Exposure- und Dialogprogramme e. V.") has commissioned AGIAMONDO e.V. to use this approach of global learning and dialoguing on development policy, intercultural and interreligious cooperation in its personnel cooperation with executives.

In EDP planning and implementation, AGIAMONDO cooperates closely with the members of the EDP Assocation. Its committees are composed of policy makers, business people as well as experts from international development cooperation and the Churches who assume responsibility for sustainable development across parties or denominations. They stand up for awareness of the realities and the potential of people living in poverty and against their marginalisation.

Our Goals

While illustrating challenges and opportunities of sustainable development, we want to impart personal and in-depth first-hand experience with decision-makers from politics, business, international development cooperation, religious communities, and civil society so that they can better assume their global responsibility. The exposure and dialogue programmes aim to deepen the understanding of development processes and provide the impetus for a change of perspective. Guided by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the principles of Christian social ethics (human dignity, subsidiarity, and solidarity) learning-by-immersion facilitate decision-making become more strongly oriented towards improving the living conditions of disadvantaged groups of the population.

Contributing to justice and sustainable living, EDP facilitates:

  • People from different cultures and social milieus meet in person, face-to-face,
  • Personal hands-on experience of people's concrete living conditions and and their potential,
  • Sharing exposure experiences with experts against the backdrop of specific development challenges

Through learning-by-immersion and dialogue with experts, the participants can:

  • expand their business knowledge or expertise in intercultural cooperation and development policy,
  • shift attention to customizing their action according to newly-won insights,
  • strengthen the networking of stakeholders striving for poverty reduction and overcoming exclusion
