Your tasks

Your tasks:

  • You will support Caritas Ukraine in the application, planning and implementation of projects, including reviewing the content of applications and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • You will accompany and monitor ongoing projects and ensure proper and timely reporting on project successes and challenges.
  • You will communicate the substantive and administrative standards of the funding bodies (AA and BMZ) by planning and conducting workshops.
  • You will work closely with the Caritas Germany project coordinator in Kiev, the Ukraine team in Freiburg and other Caritas specialists and colleagues in administration and accounting.
  • You will support the Caritas project coordinators on site in the implementation of projects, in particular in the selection of beneficiaries, documentation and reporting.

Your profile

Your profile:

  • You have completed a degree relevant to development cooperation and have at least 2 years of professional experience in the field of humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation.
  • You have extensive practical experience in project management, particularly in Project Cycle Management (PCM), as well as in the management of projects and administrative processes.
  • You are familiar with accounting and budget management and have experience in multinational teamwork.
  • You have consulting and training skills for working with local partner organizations.
  • You are experienced in dealing with third-party funded projects and the regulations of donors such as AA and BMZ.
  • You are business fluent in English, ideally have knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian, and are willing to travel regularly, including to conflict areas.
  • You identify with the goals and content of Caritas Germany and with the values of the Christian churches and are an EU citizen or Swiss national.

The German Caritas Association is the social welfare organization of the Catholic Church in Germany. Caritas Germany is the globally active aid organization of the German Caritas Association. Caritas Germany supports around 1,000 aid projects worldwide every year, providing help regardless of the religion, ethnicity or nationality of those affected.



Caritas Ukraine is one of the largest non-governmental charitable organizations in the country. The national Caritas headquarters are located in Kyiv (Kiev), supported by additional offices in Lviv (Lviv) and Dnipro. The projects are implemented by a network of 40 regional Caritas associations. The diverse areas of work include home nursing care, work with children and young people, support for people with disabilities and humanitarian aid for displaced persons and those affected in war zones.

What follows positive feedback?

We will invite you to the next available selection day. You will receive information about the procedure in advance.

What do the selection days involve?

Over the course of two days, we will provide you with specific information about the conditions and framework. We will also conduct selection interviews with you.

What happens after that?

If we consider you to be a good match for the assignment, we will request your consent to introduce you to the partner organisation. You will then receive a contract for the preparation period.

What does preparation include?

All specialists receive extensive training for 3 - 4 months in Cologne to prepare them intensively for their assignment.
