Consultant for Renewable Energies (m/f/x), Africa

In cooperation with Misereor, AGIAMONDO is looking for an experienced in international personnel cooperation

Consultant for Renewable Energies (f/m/d), Africa

Misereor works with various church and secular partner organizations in the field of climate protection and climate resilience. This includes the dissemination of the use of renewable energies.

As a temporary consultant at AGIAMONDO, you will work closely with the local stakeholders and Misereor in Aachen. In Germany, you will work on a mobile basis and undertake approximately four to six trips per year to the African partner countries.

Your new role:

Electricity is a basic requirement for social and economic participation in times of increasing digitalization. In the regions of Africa where Misereor's partner organizations are active, the aim is to provide people with affordable access to electrical energy in order to meet their everyday needs and enable regional business development. Furthermore, partner institutions, for example in the health or education sector, need a reliable and affordable power supply.

In view of the climate crisis, a sustainable energy supply can only be developed based on renewable sources. Especially in remote regions without connection to national power grids, the use of solar, small hydropower, wind and bioenergy offers the best conditions for the development of decentralized, reliable supply structures and additional job opportunities. In this field we want to strengthen the know-how and competences of our local partners.

In detail, you will take on the following tasks:

  • You will advise Misereor's local partner organizations on planning and implementing the use of renewable energy (RE) in development projects.
  • You accompany the continuous consulting processes of the project managers with Misereor employees and external actors. In doing so, you will enhance the competencies of the advised partner organizations on the application of RE technologies and regarding the necessary legal and administrative framework.
  • In addition, you will be responsible, together with the partner organizations, for the elaboration of training courses for the user groups in the handling, management and maintenance of the installed systems for sustainable use.
  • Furthermore, you will network partner organizations implementing similar projects.
  • Furthermore, you will accompany and analyze planning studies with regard to additional potentials and necessities in the technical implementation of the measures.
  • As part of your work as a consultant, you will be involved in the concept expansion for the use of renewable energies at Misereor.

Your profile:

  • You have a university degree, e.g. in engineering, business or electrical engineering, renewable energies or in a comparable field.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in the planning and execution of technical projects, also in a consulting capacity.
  • Furthermore, you are experienced in the design and execution of remote consulting processes.
  • Your French skills are business fluent, your English skills are at least good.
  • You move confidently in an intercultural and church context, can assess perspectives of different people and groups well and deal with culturally sensitive issues.
  • You are available for employment as soon as possible, preferably as early as February 2023.

What AGIAMONDO offers:

  • A three-year contract with AGIAMONDO based on the provisions of the collective bargaining agreements for the public sector (TVöD Bund) and additional benefits in the VBL.
  • A wide range of professional development opportunities.
  • An exciting interdisciplinary and intercultural working environment.
