Your work with AGIAMONDO and Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center

AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The CPS is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It works for a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Mexico, AGIAMONDO wants to contribute to the civil conflict resolution there and to the sustainable and just development of the country through peacebuilding measures.

The Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center (FRAYBA) was founded on March 19, 1989 on the initiative of Don Samuel Ruiz García, then Catholic Bishop of the Diocese. You will monitor and document human rights violations in the state of Chiapas, especially in indigenous territories, and promote the right of indigenous peoples to self-determination and autonomy on their lands and territories.

As part of its remembrance work, FRAYBA aims to build its own archive to systematise and organise documents and reports from the period of armed internal conflict. This archive will subsequently become part of a remembrance centre, which will be made available to interested communities and individuals. The centre is intended to contribute to local remembrance as well as the political education of young people.
